Sodade – Casa da Cultura

Sodade – Casa da Cultura is a restored colonial house on Avenida Amílcar Cabral, in the centre of Sal Rei. Inside there is a café-restaurant with a garden and the House of Memory, a small museum about the history and life of Boa Vista.

The restaurant is open every day, from breakfast to dinner. In the evening the kitchen mixes Cape Verdean and international dishes: starters such as goat's cheese «Sodade» style with anchovies, smoked swordfish carpaccio, amberjack ceviche and tuna tartare; mains such as amberjack with orange, catch of the day Mediterranean style, traditional búzio and chicken «yassa». There are several vegetarian and vegan options. Lobster, lobster linguine and cachupa, the national dish, can be ordered in advance.

Breakfast offers sandwiches (about €3.50), avocado toast (€5), eggs and omelettes, yoghurt and fruit, pancakes (€4–5) and traditional dishes: cachupa fried up with an egg (€4.50–5.50) and couscous with butter, goat's cheese and papaya jam (€5.50). At lunch there is a shorter menu of daily suggestions, from about €7.50 to €15.50.

Dinner prices (January 2026 menu): starters from about €6.50 to €10.50, mains from about €11 to €15.50, desserts €4 to €5.50; lobster about €36.50. The menu is in escudos, VAT and taxes included; the restaurant counts €1 = 100 escudos.

The House of Memory can be visited with an audio guide in about 30 minutes, every day from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm and from 5:30 to 9:30 pm, with private visits on request. Tickets cost €4 (€2 for Boa Vista residents), free for children aged 6 to 12 with an adult; children under 6 and animals are not allowed.
